The High School First Responder Team (HSFRT) program was established in September 2008 by Alberta Paramedic Doug Christian in cooperation with Alberta Health Services EMS.
The goals of the program are to increase community safety by training high school students to recognize and respond to emergencies that take place at their school. These students then become part of the chain of survival as first responders.
The High School First Responder training is conducted by industry professionals working in the Emergency Medical Services. Program content has been reviewed and approved by Dr. R. Martin, North Zone Medical Director, Alberta Health Services EMS.
